What’s been happening?

One of the great highlights of researching one’s family history is making contact with ‘new found’ relatives.  This does not happen very often and, indeed, is a bit like waiting for a local bus - nothing happens for ages and then suddenly three arrive together!!  That is exactly what has happened in the past two or three weeks and makes the creation of this web site so worthwhile.

Rosemary King, a ‘new’ second cousin, has given me loads of information about Maria Louise Cowley and her descendents.  Maria Louise was a daughter of Francis Cowley (1837) and Mary Ann Hart, and a sister to Caroline Hart Cowley.  (I previously had Maria Louise listed as ‘Maria A.’ in the family tree.)  Click here to see the new family tree page.  The names index has also been updated to include the new people added to the site.

Andy Whorton, a grandson of Winifred Bagnall (daughter of John Bagnall and Alice Pugh), has been researching his family history for some time and has sent me a copy of the magnificent DVD that he has produced containing all his research data.  It makes fascinating viewing.  In due course I will use some of Andy’s data to update and extend the Bagnall entries on the web site.

Sharlene Adams, a great granddaughter of Francis Tugwell Cowley, has made contact from Australia via the web site Guestbook.  When golf and gardening permit I will spend some time researching the descendents of Francis Tugwell and see if I can help Sharlene establish her Cowley links.  Sharlene would love to have contact with other family members.  If anyone would like to contact her directly please let me know and I will forward your e-mail address to her.  (I do not publish or circulate people’s e-mail addresses and will only forward them to others by specific request.)

Who Are They - Jack & Alice

Andy Whorton is certain that the ‘mystery’ photograph of ‘Jack & Alice’ which I placed on the web site is of John Bagnall and his wife, Alice Pugh.  I’m sure that he is right and ‘Jack & Alice’ have now been moved to their rightful place in the photo gallery.  (The photo gallery will need to be reorganised in due course - another thing on the ‘to do’ list!!)

I do hope that you are all continuing to enjoy the web site.  Please keep your stories and your photographs coming so that we can share the memories of our ancestry.
